It is an emotional movie which always keeps me glued to the screen. It tells about the story of a boy who suffers from dyslexia due to which he is unable to identify speech sounds and how they relate to letters. Because of this disorder, he cannot excel in any activity.

He finds all the subjects difficult to study. Even with this disorder, he is very good at painting. However, he gets expelled from school because of his poor performance.

All the teachers tell his parents that their boy is not normal and he should be sent to school which is especially made for special children like him. Later, his parents send him to boarding school. Essay on My Favorite Movie Harry Potter

My love for movies started when I was a kid, and ever since then, movies have been my favorite pastime. From action-packed thrillers to romantic comedies, there’s a movie genre for every mood. But if I have to pick just one movie as my all-time favorite, hands down it would be the Harry Potter series.

For those who are not familiar with the name, Harry Potter is a fictional character created by British author J.K. Rowling. The series consists of seven books and eight movies, which follows the journey of a young wizard named Harry Potter, who discovers his true identity as “The Chosen One” and battles against the dark wizard, Lord Voldemort.

I was first introduced to Harry Potter when I was in elementary school, and I still remember the excitement of reading the books for the first time. The magical world of Hogwarts, spells, potions, and flying broomsticks had me completely captivated. As a kid, I would often daydream about receiving my acceptance letter to Hogwarts and attending classes with Harry, Ron, and Hermione.

When the movies were released, I was ecstatic! It was a dream come true to see my favorite characters and their adventures brought to life on the big screen. The cast, especially Daniel Radcliffe as Harry Potter, Emma Watson as Hermione Granger, and Rupert Grint as Ron Weasley, did an incredible job of portraying their characters and staying true to the books.

One of the things I love most about the Harry Potter series is the way it tackles important themes such as love, friendship, courage, and good vs. evil. The characters face challenges and overcome them by staying true to their values and relying on each other for support. This message of unity and strength in the face of adversity resonated with me, and I believe it’s one of the reasons why the series has such a huge fan base.

Moreover, the world-building in the Harry Potter series is impeccable. J.K. Rowling’s attention to detail and ability to create a vivid and complex magical world is truly impressive. From Diagon Alley to Hogsmeade, each location has its own unique charm and adds depth to the story. The spells and magical creatures introduced in the series are also fascinating, and I love how each one has its own history and significance.

Apart from the story and characters, the music in the Harry Potter movies is another aspect that makes them stand out for me. The iconic theme song composed by John Williams never fails to give me chills, and it perfectly captures the essence of the series. The rest of the soundtrack is also beautifully crafted and adds to the overall magical atmosphere of the movies.

As I grew older, my love for the Harry Potter series only intensified. I started noticing and appreciating the deeper themes and symbolism in the story that went beyond just a tale of magic and adventure. The series also taught me valuable life lessons about courage, friendship, and standing up for what is right.

Even today, I find myself re-reading the books and re-watching the movies whenever I need a break from reality. The Harry Potter series has become a timeless classic, and I believe it will continue to capture the hearts of audiences for generations to come.

In conclusion, the Harry Potter series holds a special place in my heart as my all-time favorite movie. It’s not just about magic and adventure, but it’s a story about love, friendship, and overcoming challenges. The series has sparked my imagination and taught me valuable life lessons that I will carry with me forever. And for that, I will always be grateful to J.K. Rowling for creating such a magical world and to the cast and crew for bringing it to life on the big screen.

My Favorite Movie PK

Are you a big movie fan? Do you ever find yourself eagerly waiting for new releases, rewatching old classics, and discussing plot twists with your friends? If so, then you probably understand the feeling of having a favorite movie. For me, that movie is PK.

Released in 2014, PK is an Indian satirical comedy-drama directed by Rajkumar Hirani. The film stars Aamir Khan as the lead character, an alien who lands on earth and becomes stranded when his remote control to return home is stolen. He then embarks on a journey to retrieve it and encounters various aspects of human society, including religion, superstition, and love.

The first time I watched PK, I was blown away by its unique concept and thought-provoking message. The film uses comedy to address serious issues, making it both entertaining and meaningful. It challenges societal norms and beliefs, encouraging viewers to think critically about their own values.

One of the things I love most about PK is its ability to make me laugh while also making me reflect on larger societal issues. The character of PK himself is endearing and hilarious, with his childlike innocence and curiosity about human behaviors. Aamir Khan’s performance as PK is outstanding, bringing the character to life in a way that captures the audience’s hearts.

The film also has a stellar supporting cast, including Anushka Sharma, Sushant Singh Rajput, and Boman Irani. Each actor delivers a memorable performance, adding depth and complexity to the film’s themes. The chemistry between the characters is palpable, making their relationships feel authentic and relatable.

One of the most impactful aspects of PK is its commentary on religion. The film presents a thought-provoking argument against blind faith and superstition, showcasing how religious leaders can exploit people’s beliefs for personal gain.

It also highlights the importance of questioning and understanding one’s own beliefs rather than blindly following societal norms. This message resonated with me deeply and has stayed with me long after watching the film.

In addition to its thought-provoking themes, PK also boasts stunning cinematography and a captivating soundtrack. The music adds emotion and depth to key scenes, enhancing the overall viewing experience. The film’s settings, from the bustling streets of Mumbai to the tranquil beauty of Rajasthan, further immerse viewers into PK’s world.

But what truly makes PK my favorite movie is its ability to make me feel a range of emotions. I laughed at PK’s antics, cried during emotional moments, and felt anger towards societal injustices portrayed in the film. It takes skillful storytelling to evoke such strong emotions from the audience, and PK does it flawlessly.

PK has received both critical and commercial success, becoming one of the highest-grossing Indian films of all time. It also won several awards, including Best Film at the 60th Filmfare Awards. However, what matters most to me is its impact on society and its ability to spark important conversations.

The film’s message is timeless and relevant, making it a must-watch for people of all ages and backgrounds.

In conclusion PK is more than just a movie to me. It’s a thought-provoking masterpiece that challenges societal norms and encourages viewers to question their own beliefs. Its unique blend of comedy, drama, and social commentary makes it my favorite movie, one that I will continue to rewatch and recommend to others. If you haven’t seen PK yet, do yourself a favor and add it to your must-watch list. Who knows, it may become your favorite movie too. So, what are you waiting for? Grab some popcorn and hit play on PK – an unforgettable cinematic experience awaits!

Essay on My Favorite Movie Fast and Furious:

The Fast and Furious franchise has been a staple in the action movie genre for over two decades. With its adrenaline-fueled car chases, heart-stopping stunts, and diverse cast of characters, it’s no wonder that this series has become a favorite among fans worldwide.

My love for this franchise began when I first watched The Fast and the Furious back in 2001. From the very first race scene, I was hooked. The sound of revving engines and the sight of sleek cars racing through the streets had me on the edge of my seat. But what truly drew me in was the chemistry between characters Dominic Toretto and Brian O’Conner.

Their bromance and loyalty to each other despite their differences resonated with me. It’s not just about fast cars and action-packed scenes, but also about the bond of family and friendship that has kept this franchise going strong.

One of the most appealing aspects of the Fast and Furious series is its diverse cast. From street racers to former criminals, each character brings their own unique skills and personalities to the table. And as the franchise grew, so did the representation of different cultures and backgrounds.

The shift from street racing to heists in Fast Five not only upped the ante with thrilling action sequences but also introduced us to fan-favorite characters like Han, Tej, and Roman. Even more diversity was brought to the franchise with strong female characters like Letty, Mia, and most recently Hattie Shaw. Seeing people from all walks of life come together and form a strong bond is what makes this series stand out for me.

But it’s not just the characters that make this franchise special; it’s also the crazy stunts and over-the-top action sequences. From driving cars off cliffs to jumping between skyscrapers, each movie manages to push the limits of what we thought was possible. And the fact that most of these stunts are done practically is a testament to the dedication and hard work put in by the cast and crew.

It’s also worth mentioning how well this franchise has evolved over time. From humble beginnings as a street racing movie, it has now become a global phenomenon with spin-offs, video games, and even a live show. The Fast and Furious franchise has proven that it can adapt and continue to entertain audiences with each new installment.

While I have enjoyed all the movies in this franchise, there are a few that stand out for me. Fast Five, in particular, holds a special place in my heart. It was the first movie that fully embraced the heist aspect of the series while still maintaining its signature car chases and fight scenes. The addition of Dwayne Johnson’s character, Luke Hobbs, also added an extra layer of excitement to the movie.

Another favorite of mine is Furious 7. Not only did it have some of the most thrilling action sequences in the franchise, but it also served as a touching tribute to Paul Walker, who tragically passed away during filming. The emotional impact of his absence was felt throughout the movie, and it truly showed how much this cast had become a family both on and off-screen.

In conclusion, the Fast and Furious franchise holds a special place in my heart as my favorite movie series. Its diverse cast, heart-pumping action sequences, and themes of family and friendship make each movie a joy to watch. While the franchise may have started as a simple movie about street racing, it has now become a global phenomenon that continues to entertain audiences worldwide.

And with more movies and spin-offs in the works, I can’t wait to see what other exciting adventures this franchise has in store for us. So, if you haven’t watched any of the Fast and Furious movies yet, I highly recommend you give them a chance and join in on the ride. So buckle up and get ready for some high-speed action with the Fast and Furious franchise!

Essay on My Favorite Movie Twilight:

My favorite movie of all time is Twilight. I know, I know, it may sound cliché but hear me out. The reason why it’s my favorite movie goes beyond the romantic vampire and werewolf love triangle that captured the hearts of millions around the world.

Twilight is not just a typical romance film. It’s a story about self-discovery, acceptance, and the power of love to transcend all boundaries.

The movie is based on the novel by Stephenie Meyer and follows the story of Bella Swan, a teenage girl who moves to the small town of Forks, Washington to live with her father. There she meets Edward Cullen, a mysterious and handsome vampire who she falls in love with. However, their love is not without challenges as they must navigate the dangerous world of vampires and werewolves while also facing their own personal demons.

One of the reasons why I love this movie is because of its strong female lead. Bella is not your typical damsel in distress waiting to be saved by her prince charming. She is independent, brave, and unafraid to stand up for what she believes in. Her character development throughout the series is inspiring and relatable, making her a role model for young girls everywhere.

Another aspect of the movie that I enjoy is its beautiful cinematography. The stunning scenery of the Pacific Northwest adds to the mystical and enchanting atmosphere of the story. It’s no wonder that fans from all over the world travel to Forks to visit some of the filming locations.

But what makes this movie truly special to me is its theme of love conquering all. Despite their differences, Bella and Edward’s love for each other remains strong and unwavering. It shows that true love knows no boundaries, whether it be race, social status, or even species.

Twilight may have its fair share of critics but for me, it will always hold a special place in my heart. It’s not just a movie, it’s a reminder that love is the most powerful force in the world and can overcome any obstacle.

In conclusion, Twilight is more than just a teenage romance movie. It’s a beautiful story about love, growth, and acceptance. Its captivating characters, breathtaking scenery, and timeless message make it my all-time favorite movie. It’s a film that I can watch over and over again, always finding something new to love about it. And for that, it will forever hold a special place in my heart.

So the next time someone asks me why Twilight is my favorite movie, I’ll simply smile and say “because it’s not just a movie, it’s a love story that transcends all boundaries.” So, if you haven’t watched it yet, I highly recommend giving it a chance and experiencing the magic of Twilight for yourself. Trust me, you won’t regret it.

Essay on My Favorite Movie Dangal:

As a movie buff, I have watched hundreds of movies spanning different genres. But there is one movie that stands out amongst them all and holds a special place in my heart – Dangal.

Dangal is an Indian sports biographical drama based on the real-life story of former wrestler Mahavir Singh Phogat and his daughters Geeta Phogat and Babita Kumari. Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, the movie stars Aamir Khan as Mahavir Singh Phogat and Fatima Sana Shaikh and Sanya Malhotra as his daughters. The film was released in 2016 and has since become one of the highest-grossing Indian films of all time.

What makes Dangal my favorite movie is not just its box office success, but the powerful message it delivers. The film challenges societal norms and stereotypes by showcasing the struggle of a father who defies all odds to train his daughters in a male-dominated sport like wrestling. It breaks gender barriers and inspires young girls to pursue their dreams, no matter how unconventional they may seem.

Apart from its impactful message, Dangal also delivers exceptional performances by its lead actors. Aamir Khan once again proves his versatility as an actor with his portrayal of Mahavir Singh Phogat. He not only physically transforms himself to play the role of a wrestler but also brings out the emotional side of a father who is determined to see his daughters succeed. Fatima Sana Shaikh and Sanya Malhotra also shine in their roles as the Phogat sisters, displaying strong-willed and determined characters.

The film’s screenplay and direction are top-notch, keeping the audience engaged from start to finish. The wrestling scenes are choreographed brilliantly, making them look realistic and intense. The soundtrack of the movie is another highlight, with songs like “Dangal” and “Haanikaarak Bapu” becoming instant hits.

In addition to its commercial success, Dangal has also received critical acclaim. The film won several awards, including the National Film Award for Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment and three Filmfare Awards. It was also India’s official entry for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film.

In conclusion, Dangal is a movie that has it all – a powerful message, exceptional performances, and top-notch execution. It not only entertains but also educates and inspires its audience. For me, it will always remain my favorite movie and one that I highly recommend to everyone. So if you haven’t watched it yet, do yourself a favor and add it to your must-watch list. Bahubali is an epic Indian movie that swept the nation off its feet with its grandeur, action-packed scenes, and compelling storyline. Released in 2015, this movie was a game-changer for Indian cinema as it broke all box office records and took the world by storm.

Directed by S.S. Rajamouli, Bahubali tells the story of two brothers, Amarendra Bahubali and Bhallaladeva, who fight for the throne of the ancient kingdom of Mahishmati. The movie is set in a fictional world filled with political intrigue, love, war, and betrayal.

One of the reasons I fell in love with this movie is its incredible action sequences. From sword fights to larger-than-life battle scenes, Bahubali has it all. The special effects and CGI used in the movie are top-notch and make the fight scenes even more captivating.

But what truly sets Bahubali apart is its strong characters, especially its female lead Devasena. She is a fierce warrior who can hold her ground against any opponent. Her character challenges traditional gender roles and stands out as a symbol of strength and resilience.

Apart from the action, Bahubali also has a heart-wrenching love story between Amarendra Bahubali and Devasena. Their chemistry is palpable, and their love for each other is portrayed beautifully on screen. This adds an emotional depth to the movie that makes it even more impactful.

Moreover, what I admire about Bahubali is how it showcases the rich culture and traditions of India. The sets, costumes, and music all beautifully capture the essence of Indian mythology and history.

Aside from its entertainment value, Bahubali also has a powerful message about good triumphing over evil. Through the character of Amarendra Bahubali, the movie teaches us that true strength lies in compassion and not violence.

In conclusion, Bahubali will always hold a special place in my heart as it is not just a movie but an experience. Watching movies is a part of almost everyone’s life. They entertain us, teach us lessons, and even help us socialize by giving us topics to talk about with others. As long as movies have been produced, everyone has patronized them.  Essays about movies  are a great way to learn all about the meaning behind the picture.

Cinema is an art form in itself. The lighting, camera work, and acting in the most widely acclaimed movies are worthy of praise. Furthermore, a movie can be used to send a message, often discussing issues in contemporary society. Movies are entertaining, but more importantly, they are works of art. “Films encourage us to take action. Our favourite characters, superheroes, teach us life lessons. They give us ideas and inspiration to do everything for the better instead of just sitting around, waiting for things to go their way. Films about famous personalities are the perfect way to affect social behaviour positively. Films are a source of knowledge. They can help learn what’s in the trend, find out more about ancient times, or fill out some knowledge gaps.”

In this movie essay, Rathod gives readers three ways watching movies can positively affect us. Movie writers, producers, and directors use their platform to teach viewers life skills, the importance of education, and the contrast between good and evil. Watching movies can also help us improve critical thinking, according to Briggs. Not only do movies entertain us, but they also have many educational benefits. “Many people involving children and adults can effect with their sleeping disturbance and anxiety. Myths, non-realistic, fairy tales could respond differently with being in the real world. Horror movies bring a lot of excitement and entertainment among you and your family. Horror movies can cause physical behavior changes in a person by watching the films. The results of watching horror movies shows that is has really effect people whether you’re an adult, teens, and most likely happens during your childhood.”

In his essay, Briggs acknowledges why people enjoy horror movies so much but warns of their adverse effects on viewers. Most commonly, they cause viewers nightmares, which may cause anxiety and sleep disorders. He focuses on the films’ effects on children, whose more sensitive, less developed brains may respond with worse symptoms, including major trauma. The films can affect all people negatively, but children are the most affected.

“This was the message of Casablanca in late 1942. It was the ideal opportunity for America to utilize its muscles and enter the battle. America was to end up the hesitant gatekeeper of the entire world. The characters of Casablanca, similar to the youthful Americans of the 1960s who stick headed the challenge development, are ‘genuine Americans’ lost in a hostile region, battling to open up another reality.”

In this essay, the author discusses the 1942 film  Casablanca , which is said to be the greatest movie ever made, and explains why it has gotten this reputation. To an extent, the film’s storyline, acting, and even relatability (it was set during World War II) allowed it to shine from its release until the present. It invokes feelings of bravery, passion, and nostalgia, which is why many love the movie. You can also check out these  books about adaption .

4.   Dune Review: An Old Story Reshaped For The New 2021 Audience by Oren Cohen

“Lady Jessica is a powerful woman in the original book, yet her interactions with Paul diminish her as he thinks of her as slow of thought. Something we don’t like to see in 2021 — and for a good reason. Every book is a product of its time, and every great storyteller knows how to adapt an old story to a new audience. I believe Villeneuve received a lot of hate from diehard Dune fans for making these changes, but I fully support him.”

Like the previous essay, Cohen reviews a film, in this case, Denis Villeneuve’s  Dune , released in 2021. He praises the film, writing about its accurate portrayal of the epic’s vast, dramatic scale, music, and, interestingly, its ability to portray the characters in a way more palatable to contemporary audiences while staying somewhat faithful to the author’s original vision. Cohen enjoyed the movie thoroughly, saying that the movie did the book justice.

“Those travelers added around 630 million New Zealand dollars ($437 million) to the country’s economy in 2019 alone, the tourism authority told CNBC. A survey by the tourism board, however, showed that almost one in five Kiwis are worried that the country attracts too many tourists. Overcrowding at tourist spots, lack of infrastructure, road congestion and environmental damage are creating tension between locals and visitors, according to a 2019 report by Tourism New Zealand.”

The locations where successful movies are filmed often become tourist destinations for fans of those movies. Goel writes about how “film tourism” affects the residents of popular filming locations. The environment is sometimes damaged, and the locals are caught off guard. Though this is not always the case, film tourism is detrimental to the residents and ecosystem of these locations. 6. Moonage Daydream:  “Who Is He? What Is He?” by Jonathan Romney

“Right from the start, Brett Morgen’s  Moonage Daydream  (2022) catches us off guard. It begins with an epigraph musing on Friedrich Nietzsche’s proclamation that “God is dead,” then takes us into deep space and onto the surface of the moon. It then unleashes an image storm of rockets, robots, and star-gazers, and rapid-fire fragments of early silent cinema, 1920s science fiction, fifties cartoons, and sixties and seventies newsreel footage, before lingering on a close-up of glittery varnish on fingernails.”

Moonage Daydream  is a feature film containing never-before-seen footage of David Bowie. In this essay, Romney delves into the process behind creating the movie and how the footage was captured. It also looks at the director’s approach to creating a structured and cohesive film, which took over two years to plan. This essay looks at how Bowie’s essence was captured and preserved in this movie while displaying the intricacies of his mind.

7. La Bamba:  American Dreaming, Chicano Style by Yolanda Machado

“A traumatic memory, awash in hazy neutral tones, arising as a nightmare. Santo & Johnny’s mournful “Sleep Walk” playing. A sudden death, foreshadowing the passing of a star far too young. The opening sequence of Luis Valdez’s  La Bamba  (1987) feels like it could be from another film—what follows is largely a celebration of life and music.”

La Bamba  is a well-known movie about a teenage Mexican migrant who became a rock ‘n’ roll star. His rise to fame is filled with difficult social dynamics, and the star tragically dies in a plane crash at a young age. In this essay, Machado looks at how the tragic death of the star is presented to the viewer, foreshadowing the passing of the young star before flashing back to the beginning of the star’s career. Machado analyses the storyline and directing style, commenting on the detailed depiction of the young star’s life. It’s an in-depth essay that covers everything from plot to writing style to direction.

5 Prompts for Essays About Movies

Simple and straightforward, write about your favorite movie. Explain its premise, characters, and plot, and elaborate on some of the driving messages and themes behind the film. You should also explain why you enjoy the movie so much: what impact does it have on you? Finally, answer this question in your own words for an engaging piece of writing.

From horror to romance, movies can fall into many categories. Choose one of the main genres in cinema and discuss the characteristics of movies under that category. Explain prevalent themes, symbols, and motifs, and give examples of movies belonging to your chosen genre. For example, horror movies often have underlying themes such as mental health issues, trauma, and relationships falling apart.

Without a doubt, special effects in movies have improved drastically. Both practical and computer-generated effects produce outstanding, detailed effects to depict situations most would consider unfathomable, such as the vast space battles of the  Star Wars  movies. Write about the development of special effects over the years, citing evidence to support your writing. Be sure to detail key highlights in the history of special effects.

Movies are always made to be appreciated by viewers, but whether or not they enjoy them varies, depending on their preferences. In your essay, write about what you look for in a “good” movie in terms of plot, characters, dialogue, or anything else. You need not go too in-depth but explain your answers adequately. In your opinion, you can use your favorite movie as an example by writing about the key characteristics that make it a great movie.

Essays About Movies: The evolution of movies

From the silent black-and-white movies of the early 1900s to the vivid, high-definition movies of today, times have changed concerning movies. Write about how the film industry has improved over time. If this topic seems too broad, feel free to focus on one aspect, such as cinematography, themes, or acting.

How to write an essay on your favorite movie.

The question; how to write an essay on your favorite movie is one that film fans and cinephiles have asked for decades. But, is it even possible to create a well-written, meaningful essay about something as subjective as personal taste in cinema?

The answer to this question is, of course, a big yes. One thing you shouldn’t overlook, though, is that it can take a lot of time, plenty of effort, and lots of practice. And if you do not have all the time, your best bet could be to seek university assignment help .

Tips for Writing Essay on Favorite Movie

To help you get started on this all-important assignment, we’ve put together a few tips that really should make the process more manageable and fun. Here are six tips for writing the best essay on your favorite movie!

I. Choose a movie that you really enjoy and can talk about in detail

When it comes to choosing a movie to write about, it’s important to select a film that you’re truly passionate about. A film you’ve seen multiple times and can quote lines from is a great choice. You will find it easy writing about the film in detail and engage the reader in your essay. Keep in mind that it will be difficult to write a convincing and engaging essay if you’re not interested in the subject matter. So choose a movie that you really enjoy and can talk about at length for the best results.

II. Watch the movie again, taking note of the movie’s plot, the characters, and setting

Before writing anything, it’s important that you take a close look at the film you’ve chosen. This means watching it again, but this time with a critical eye. Pay attention to the story, the characters, and the film’s overall setting. Think about how these elements come together to create a cohesive whole. What themes are explored in the movie? What is it that the movie director was trying to communicate with their selections? By taking the time to analyze the film in this way, you’ll be able to develop a more nuanced understanding of it which will come in handy when you start writing your essay.

III. Write down your thoughts on the movie

After you’ve watched the movie a second time and taken some notes, it’s time to start brainstorming your thoughts on the film. Take note of the things liked about the movie? Also take note of the things you didn’t you like about the movie? Not to forget, ask yourself, what themes resonated with you? How did the cinematography and writing/directing choices affect your experience watching the movie? These will help you form a solid opinion of the film.

IV. Discuss the themes of the movie and how they resonate with you

We asked top assignment writers at Essay Geeks , what is their secret of writing top essays about their favorite movies. The answer was simple; you discuss the themes that the movie explores. What topics does the film tackle? How does it approach these topics? How do the themes resonate with you on a personal level? These are the sorts of questions that you’ll need to answer in your essay.

V. Analyze the cinematography and writing/directing choices made by the filmmakers

You want to be sure to not only discuss the themes of the film but also analyze how the filmmakers approached these themes. What decisions did filmmakers settle on in terms of cinematography and writing/directing? How did these choices affect your experience of watching the movie? Did they enhance or detract from your enjoyment of the film? These questions will help you to get at the bottom of what exactly the filmmakers were aiming at achieving with their choices.

VI. Offer your own interpretation of the film’s message or story

What did you make of the ending? Do you think the film was successful in conveying its intended message? What sort of emotions did the film evoke in you? Did it make you think about the world in a different way? By offering your own interpretation, you’ll be able to add your own unique voice to the essay.

2 Mistakes to Avoid When Writing About Your Favorite Movie

Writing about your favorite movie can be a fun and rewarding experience. However, there are a few mistakes that you’ll want to avoid if you want the essay to be as good as it can be. Here are two of them;

Regurgitating the plot

When you’re writing about your favorite movie, it’s important to resist the urge to simply regurgitate the plot. While it’s important to give a brief overview of what the film is about, your essay should go beyond just summarizing the story. Instead, focus on discussing the themes of the film and how these themes resonate with you.

Don’t forget to proofread

Once you’re done writing your essay, do not forget to take the time to go through it again. This can help you catch sloppy grammatical or spelling errors that could detract from your essay. In addition, proofreading will also allow you to catch any choppy sentences or awkward phrasing. By taking the time to proofread your essay, you’ll be able to make sure that it is as polished and well-written as possible.

Closing Thoughts

Writing an essay about your favorite movie really shouldn’t be too difficult. Just be sure to take your time to understand the film, brainstorm your thoughts, and proofread your essay before submitting it.

MY FAVORITE MOVIE

Film is of great importance to society as it is a portrayal of the current society which we live in. It is a get away from the harsh realities of the world into a new and different world. Fictional films, however, put a creative twist to the common themes we see in real life and also offer a different world to escape to. A movie that has lived up to the essence of fictional films and transports you to an alternate reality is Inception. I have seen the movie seven times since its release in 2010, having the last instance about a month ago. It is my favorite fictional film.

Inception is a fictional thriller film released in 2010 that was written, co-produced and directed by Christopher Nolan, who has written, produced and directed other critically acclaimed films such as Interstellar and The Prestige. Inception follows Dom Cobb, played by Academy Award-winning actor Leonardo DiCaprio, who is a professional thief that can steal information from the subconscious of people while asleep. He is given the opportunity to clear his criminal history and reunite him with his children by completing a simple task; implanting someone else’s idea in a target’s subconscious.  [“ Write my essay for me ?” Get help here.]

Cobb cannot accomplish this mission on his own and recruits partners; Arthur (played by Joseph Gordon-Levitt) as his fellow extractor, Ariadne (played by Ellen Page) a graduate architect whose duty is to build the dreamscape and Eames (played by Tom Hardy). Eames is great at impersonating others and using force to get the job done. This occurs within a dream, and Cobb can go deeper in the dreams. A dream within a dream, Cobb, and his partners go through turmoil to implant the idea while Cobb is battling the memory of his dead wife and the urge to stay in the dream with her. The film takes a drastic turn at the end when he is reunited with his children and spins a top which is an indicator of whether he is still dreaming or not. This scene leaves the audience in suspense.

I chose Inception as my favorite film due to some various reasons. Firstly, the cinematography and visual effects of the movie is excellent. The film even won the Academy Award for best visual effects. The film calls for your attention and looking away does one a great disservice. There is a specific scene in the film whereby the dreamscape was crumbling, and the city appeared upside-down. The execution of that specific scene left me in awe.

Secondly, the plot of the film is also exceptional. The fact that Christopher Nolan explored the theme of dreams and having a universe in a dream which can be manipulated by a person to obtain information is brilliant. It explores the idea that dreams seem very real when we are in them but soon we wake up and go about our regular lives. There is never a dull moment in the film as the plot is not predictable. It changes as soon as you think you know what will happen next. You therefore fully concentrate on watching the movie. There were also some interesting and relatable sub-plots such as the relationship between Cobb and his wife who had committed suicide and the relationship between Cobb and his children. [Need an  essay writing service ? Find help here.]

I also enjoy the film due to the seamless acting is done by the cast. Leonardo DiCaprio, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Ellen Page, Tom Hardy, Marion Cotillard and Michael Caine are all critically acclaimed actors and actresses who portrayed their roles with great prowess and were sure to bring the audience into their world.

my favourite movies essay

I also uphold the fact that the film urges the audience to dive deep into the film and think critically. It requires one to be alert and willing to pay undivided attention to fully understand the plot. You forget your reality and come into Cobb’s reality.

Lastly, I am obsessed with the creativity of the entire film. Lucid dreaming is an unexplored concept in visual art. The film is original in that it is not an adaptation of a book or a television show, but it is its entity. From the soundtrack to the visual effects to the dialogue; everything about the film is original. In my opinion, Inception is among the greatest works of art that have come out of the latest decade, and its legacy will live on for decades to come.  [Click  Essay Writer  to order your essay]

Some are born great; some achieve greatness; some have greatness thrust upon them. As for Dimple Kapadia, my favorite actress, the later two parts of the sentence hold good. The director of movie Bobby, Raj Kapoor, drew magic out of her. The movie was popular beyond expectations and those who saw the movie not once, twice but dozens of times just to enjoy the role of Dimple Kapadia as Bobby are not in dozens, but in thousands. Through this movie, she brought the essential dignity to the female character, and sent a convincing message, as for the rights and responsibilities of women in the Indian Society. Mind you, she was doing this role 4 decades ago and the social conditions prevailing then were entirely different as compared to the current times.

She has been hailed as the sensuous star, apart from her superb acting talents. Her sexuality was not exhibitionism of the naked body parts. It was appreciated and acceptable as it had nobility about it. She was in teens when she did the role of Bobby, but showed extraordinary maturity in ‘her dialogues.’ As a debutant, it was an outstanding effort. She acted without any strain; the scene to scene transformation was effortless. She was the daughter of a Christian fisherman and fell in love with the only son of a rich industrialist. The initiative was from the boy’s side first. Bikini had yet to enter the Hindi Films, and the scene in which she steps out of a swimming pool in the most revealing style, is unforgettable. Some of the dialogues have found a permanent place in Hindi script-writing. ‘Mujhse Dosti Karoge?’(Will you make friendship with me?)-the style in which the dialogue was delivered was both a challenge and unintended rebuke to the boy, Rishi Kapoor, who was taken aback at her boldness.

She married Rajesh Khanna, another famous movie star of the time, but the marriage ended in divorce. Notwithstanding the temporary setback in her personal life, there was no stopping as for successful roles she did in many films. Some of the memorable roles are:

As the mother of two kids, she did her comeback film Sagar. She was remarkable again, the spectators won’t forget the scene in which her towel slips as she emerges from the waves and surf, and for a second one catches the glimpse of her bare breasts. Kamal Hasan was her hero in this movie. She was not the pony-tailed Bobby in this movie but her gorgeous auburn tresses were no less attractive. Then followed Mahesh Bhatt’s sensitive movie Kaash! She excelled in a non-glamorous role in Shanichari. She is a poor low-caste woman in this tale by Kalpana Lajmi. She had everything that made her life miserable in this movie. An alcoholic husband, a useless son, a prostitute for a daughter and a broken house in the Rajasthanai desert! She as ‘Rudali’ showed grit and great strength of character. Dil Chahta Hai, Leela, Pyar  Mein Twist, Zhakmi Aurat, Lekin are some of her other movies that brought her fame.

She is a great actress and a great human being. She established her place in the Bollywood with her sheer acting talents. Luck favors the brave and she had the element of luck with her, to be spotted by the Director like Raj Kapoor to chisel ‘Bobby’ out of the young girl, Dimple Kapadia. The rest is history.

  • Sci-fi is becoming a major focus for Pixar, with 3 out of 4 upcoming movies falling into this genre.
  • Toy Story 5 is not sci-fi, but it does continue a beloved franchise.
  • Pixar's mixed results with sci-fi, like the disappointment of Lightyear , means its upcoming projects may not live up to the hype.

I'm a big fan of many Pixar projects, but the fact that most of the studio's upcoming movies all sit within my favorite category is a huge bonus that enhances my excitement ahead of their release. I'll admit that not every Pixar movie has hit home for me, but I've found most to be a thoroughly enjoyable watch. Away from Pixar, my viewing habits fall very heavily within a specific genre, which is why I'm so thrilled that Pixar's immediate future is aligning even more with my tastes .

Pixar's sequels have been its main source of revenue in recent years, and while I love seeing some of its franchises grow, their original stories often have the potential to shine much brighter. Thankfully, equal attention is now being paid to continuing existing stories as well as establishing new narratives populated with the signature quirky characters that I and so many others have grown to love. Strangely, 75% of Pixar's upcoming movie slate shares something in common .

Every Upcoming Pixar Movie & TV Show

Here is every upcoming Pixar movie and TV show slated for release over the next few years, from new originals like Elio to sequels like Toy Story 5.

3 Of The 4 Upcoming Pixar Movies Are Science-Fiction

Pixar is seemingly focusing on 1 specific genre.

I love sci-fi, and I love Pixar movies. However, the two don't often collide. Looking to the immediate future, that rarity is becoming a thing of the past, and I'm so excited. First up, there's Elio , which is slated for release on June 13, 2025. The movie is probably the most hard sci-fi project that Pixar has in the works, although it still boasts the studio's iconic playfulness too. Unfortunately, the other two sci-fi movies don't have solid release dates, but one is more definitive than the other.

2025

2026

Unknown

Hoppers will arrive in movie theaters in the Spring of 2026 , which ensures my Pixar/sci-fi fix will be met in consecutive years. The story revolves around human consciousness being transferred into animal-like machines. If I didn't know it was a Pixar movie, I'd assume the premise belonged to a gritty dystopian neo-noir movie. Finally, Incredibles 3 was announced at 2024's D23 , but was only confirmed to be, " Coming Soon ." If I had to guess, I would assume the third installment in the superhero trilogy would arrive in 2027.

According to Economic Times , Pixar has a " confirmed but unallocated release date " of June 18, 2027, which could accommodate Incredibles 3 's release.

Toy Story 5 Has Me Equally Excited (Despite Not Being Sci-Fi)

Toy story is my favorite pixar franchise.

Woody and his friends looking at Bonnie on her tablet in the Toy Story 5 teaser

The only confirmed non-sci-fi Pixar movie in the works is Toy Story 5 . It might stand out when compared to the other upcoming projects because it's not science-fiction, but that doesn't stop me from eagerly anticipating its arrival. Toy Story is easily my favorite Pixar franchise , and while I was initially uneasy about the story continuing beyond Toy Story 3 's ending , I was surprised that I found the fourth movie to be a worthwhile endeavor. It wasn't perfect, but it was still very good.

I don't want it to try and beat what the rest of the Toy Story movies have done, I just want it to be a fun ride.

The confirmed Toy Story 5 details from D23 all sound like a lot of fun. Not only is the sequel tackling modern-day challenges like screen addiction, but the thought of a group of rogue Buzz Lightyears sounds like it'll be equal parts ominous and hysterical. I'm past the point of thinking Toy Story should end , as I know many fans believe, and I'm just ready to enjoy another adventure with Woody and company. I don't want it to try and beat what the rest of the Toy Story movies have done, I just want it to be a fun ride.

Pixar's Mixed Results With Sci-Fi Still Have Me Worried

Wall-e is great, but lightyear is not.

Pixar's rare forays into sci-fi haven't been very consistent . As a result, I'm trying to temper my expectations for the three upcoming movies in the genre. 2004's Incredibles is practically a perfect movie for me, so the studio started strong with its first science-fiction effort. 2008's WALL-E meets the same standard as Pixar's animated superhero flick, so that's another tick for getting hyped for Elio , Hoppers , and Incredibles 3 . Unfortunately, the other two sci-fi Pixar movies fall very short of what I know the studio is capable of, and this concerns me.

The 20 Best Pixar Characters, Ranked

Pixar animation has introduced us to some heartwarming, whimsical, and realistic characters in the almost 30 years since the studio made its debut.

The long-awaited arrival of Incredibles 2 in 2018 came with many expectations , many of which were left unfulfilled. I thought it was okay, but it could have been so much better. The same is true of 2022's Lightyear . The meta Toy Story prequel got in its own way by trying to tie itself into the main canon too creatively, which distracted from the storyline. I liked it, but it wasn't as good as Incredibles or WALL-E . With any luck, Elio , Hoppers , and Incredibles 3 all live up to the standards set by Pixar 's first two sci-fi efforts.

Where to Stream All the ‘Alien’ Movies Right Now

Here’s where you can watch the entire franchise, from Ridley Scott’s 1979 original masterpiece to 2017’s “Alien: Covenant”

alien-1979-sigourney-weaver

If you want to stream all of the movies in the “Alien” franchise, including the “Alien vs. Predator” spinoffs, head over to Hulu.

All eight films, released theatrically by 20th Century Fox (since renamed as 20th Century Studios) are currently on the Disney-owned streamer at the moment.

Ridley Scott’s 1979 original space thriller and James Cameron’s action-packed 1986 sequel and subsequent sequels are variously available on Fubu, FX Now and Max.

Here’s where to stream all the “Alien” movies right now ahead of the release of “Alien: Romulus,” the ninth film in the franchise that opens in theaters on Aug. 16.

Alien

Alien (1979)

In the first film, the crew of the Nostromo – Ripley, Dallas (Tom Skerritt), Ash (Ian Holm), Kane (John Hurt), Parker (Yaphet Kotto), Lambert (Veronica Cartwright) and Brett (Harry Dean Stanton) — answer a deep-space distress call that will prove fatal for most of them. Four decades latter, it’s still tense and eerie as hell.

Stream on Hulu, Fubo and FX Now

Aliens

Aliens (1986)

James Cameron takes the franchise ball and runs with it in this crowd-pleasing sequel, which sees Ripley reluctantly accompanying a team of marines (who include Michael Biehn, Bill Paxton and Jenettte Goldstein) charged with figuring out what happened at a now-abandoned colony. She fiercely protects young survivor Newt (Carrie Henn), giving us the epic, “Get away from her, you b—h!” showdown.

Stream on Hulu and Max

alien-3-sigourney-weaver

Alien 3 (1992)

David Fincher’s divisively bleak threequel finds Ripley crash-landing on a planet called Fiorina 161, where the only inhabitants are the former inmates of a maximum security prison. Charles Dance, Pete Postlethwaite, Brian Glover and Charles S. Dutton co-star in what is, arguably, the harshest environment of the whole franchise. It also features one of the greatest shots of the series: A drooling alien cornering a terrified, bald Ripley … and then deciding to leave her alone.

Stream on Hulu, Fubo and Starz

Sigourney Weaver and Winona Ryder in "Alien: Resurrection"

Alien: Resurrection” (1997)

Ripley is back as a human-alien hybrid and is more unstoppable than ever. “Amelie” director Jean-Pierre Jeunet brings some of his favorite actors, including Ron Perlman, along for the ride, as well as Gen X icon Winona Ryder as an android mechanic.

Stream on Hulu, Fubu, FX Now, and Starz

Alien vs Predator (2004)

“Resident Evil” helmer directs this epic meet-up, where humans are caught in the middle of a lethal alien battle near Antarctica. The cast includes Sanaa Lathan, Lance Henriksen, Colin Salmon and Tommy Flanagan.

Aliens vs Predator: Requiem (2007)

The alien-on-alien action shifts to a small Colorado town, where one Predator is sent to clean up the carnage caused for a hybrid Predalien. Special effects pros Greg and Colin Strause take over directing duties on this sequel, which costars Steven Pasquale, Reiko Aylesworth, John Ortiz, Johnny Lewis and Ariel Gade.

Stream on Hulu, FX Now, Fubu or Starz

Prometheus

Prometheus (2012)

Scott returned to the director’s chair for this highly anticipated (and mythology-heavy) prequel, which starred Noomi Rapace as the resourceful heroine and Michael Fassbender as the secretly scheming android David.

I'm Gen X and not ready to retire. At 51, my career is just now starting.

  • At age 30, I was a single mom to four kids, and my career was on hold indeterminately.
  • I'm 51 and probably will never be able to retire — I have the same career goals as my adult kids.
  • My savings are basically nonexistent so I need to catch up with my generation.

Insider Today

This week was a good one for me. I got the green light for a few article pitches from some different outlets that would net me around $1000 total: one travel piece, one essay, and one listicle about movies that I always pretend I find tedious but secretly love rather deeply.

That $1000 means I can get my car fixed, pay a few bills , and potentially put some money into my almost nonexistent savings account.

I am a 51-year-old single mom of four, and if you saw me, you would not think this was my life. I look like someone with great credit. A middle-aged Gen X mom who is probably already thinking about grandchildren, renovating her sunroom, and leasing a new car because she's tired of her old one. If your mom plays tennis , she probably has a partner who looks just like me.

It's all a lie, of course.

I don't fit into my generation

My face, my blonde highlights , and my summer wardrobe of white linen smacks of bland mortgage stability. I have simply aged into a demographic that does not fit. I have never fit into my demographic.

Related stories

I became a mom at 21 when everyone else was listening to grunge music and quoting "Reality Bites." I was a single mom of four at 30 when my friends were just hitting their stride in their careers. All of them talked about mortgage rates and patio stones and dinner parties while I packed my kids into our minivan and moved to my hometown to settle in for 20 years of poverty. I worked as many jobs as I could to pay as much of our rent as I could. All the while dreaming of a career I couldn't have. Not then. Not yet.

Not until our life became my story. The life that kept me away from this big career I wanted as a writer became the very thing that made it start to happen for me.

My career is just starting

First, a column in my small town newspaper about us, then a parenting column about us, then essays about us. About me. About divorce and poverty and later being an empty nester missing them. Then travel and really anything at all.

So, to me, this is the beginning. And here I am, out of step again. Driving on the wrong side of the road because these are the years when people start talking fondly about retirement.

I'm not ready for retirement, nowhere near. Probably, I never will be at this rate. I can't see beyond the hope that the book proposal I sent to my agent will get picked up or my essay edits will be approved by Friday afternoon. Can't see beyond the spreadsheet of freelance pitches that I've tossed around the internet like playing cards, hoping someone turns one over.

My adult sons and I talk about the same career goals because we have the same career goals, which are basically climb, climb, climb.

I pretend not to stress about finances

I make cavalier jokes all the time about eventually dying broke but happy, like I don't care about it. Like it's a story that isn't happening to me.

I don't think about my empty savings account until it is 3 a.m., and I suddenly notice a pain in my right armpit and wonder if it's serious, if it's cancer. If this is the thing that will kill me before I have time to get older, but oh yes, that's right, I'm already older.

I swallow down the fear of my reality with this seed of something I've had since I was a kid. Maybe I'm right about myself. Maybe I'm a writer who just didn't get the chance to write for a very long time. That retirement can hopefully wait because the whole of me is not ready for it — not my mind, not my spirit, and certainly not my bank account.

Watching It Ends With Us as a Domestic Violence Survivor, I Saw Myself Onscreen (Exclusive)

As someone who's experienced intimate partner violence, I was nervous about seeing the film. But the experience surpassed my expectations

Atria Books; Nicole Rivelli/Sony Pictures Entertainment

When I went to an early screening of I t Ends With Us , the screen adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s bestselling book, I packed as many tissues as I could stuff in my pockets. I twisted my fingers around each other as Blake Lively’s Lily met Justin Baldoni’s Ryle, silently mouthing the mantra my therapist taught me. You’re safe. You’re loved. You’re strong.

And when the eponymous Casserole Scene splashed across the screen, I recognized the terror in Lily’s face, the flash of anger on Ryle’s. My chest tightened and I couldn’t help but flash back to a similar scene from my own past.

As Ryle and Lily debriefed his outburst, her injuries and both of their rationalizations for the way things went down, I remembered sitting at a not-so-different kitchen counter, having a conversation that mirrored theirs so closely, it brought tears to my eyes.

Nicole Rivelli/Sony Pictures Entertainment

I recalled giving my abuser’s photograph to the receptionist at my job and warning her not to let him in, checking every few years to make sure I still have his threatening emails and voicemails, that the old police reports are still tucked in my safe. Just in case the saga that tried to ruin my life isn’t over, because that’s the thing about trauma: It never really goes away.

I’m not going to name my abuser in this essay because my story isn’t about him. I’m bigger than the way he tried to control me, stronger than the fear that strangled my voice for years after he put his hands on me for the first time in 2007. Back then, he swore he didn’t know what he was doing, didn’t mean it, wouldn’t do it again. He did. He did. He did.

Never miss a story — sign up for  PEOPLE's free daily newsletter  to stay up-to-date on the best of what PEOPLE has to offer , from celebrity news to compelling human interest stories.

I eventually got out from under his influence, got enough therapy to practically open my own practice, swore I’d never let anyone direct the trajectory of my life ever again. As Hoover writes in the book, “We break the pattern before the pattern breaks us.”

Watching It Ends With Us as a domestic violence survivor was hard. I won’t sugarcoat it, because I don’t believe in doing that anymore. But it was also profoundly healing to see my experience mirrored onscreen. I texted my own real-life version of Lily’s best friend Allyssa when it was over. “I survived,” I wrote. “And I loved it.”

As a writer who finds solace in words, I’ve sought out books about trauma since before I realized I was doing it. I’ve cried my way through In the Dream House by Carmen Maria Machado, texted passages of Hunger by Roxane Gay to my therapist and underlined almost the entirety of Know My Name by Chanel Miller.

But I’ve hesitated to watch intimate partner violence portrayed on the big screen, surrounded by hundreds of other people. I can put a book down when the words start to swim, walk away from a TV show when it feels like too much. But watching It Ends With Us at Colleen Hoover’s Book Bonanza in June, I couldn’t escape what was happening in front of me or between my ears. And that turned out to be a good thing.

Eric Charbonneau

I could tell Hoover, Baldoni, Lively and the rest had taken deep care with the production, just like the author did with the book that’s based, in part, on her own mother’s relationship. "Seeing these characters come to life on the big screen is a dream come true," the author told PEOPLE, in advance of the film. "The power of visual storytelling is undeniable, and it can evoke even stronger emotions and empathy from the audience by bringing a sense of immediacy and intensity to the story. I definitely felt so much while watching the adaptation."

Watching the film surrounded by fellow Hoover fans (the official name for her fan club is the CoHort, for those newly seeking membership) very much bore that out. We laughed, gasped and swooned together and at more than a few moments, sniffles and even some muffled sobs could be heard throughout the pin-drop quiet theater.

Afterward, we all emerged with smeared mascara, puffy eyes and the kind of emotional hangover that only comes from wringing out your heart like a wet dishrag. We boarded buses to take us back to the hotel, chattering about our favorite parts, that beautiful score, the outfits (the outfits!) and how closely it hewed to the book. What I didn’t feel was exploited, or alone. I fell back into bed after midnight, my heart full. That’s the beauty of watching art in community, I realized. Even if it’s hard, everyone around you is experiencing some version of the same thing.

The film version of It Ends With Us reminded me of my favorite lines from the book: “Naked truths aren’t always pretty.” In this case, the truths aren’t pretty, but the portrayal is. It felt like another step on my lifelong road to proving to myself that you can knock me down, but I’m strong enough to get back up, dust myself off, and keep on walking.

It Ends With Us is in theaters nationwide on Aug. 9.
