Writing Task 2: Solve traffic and transportation problems

Some people think to solve traffic and transportation problems people should be encouraged to live in the suburbs or the countryside rather than in cities..

To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Sample Answer

Traffic congestion is one of the major complications in most metropolitan cities. Many personages say that the antidote to resolving this issue is to motivate citizens to relocate to the suburban arena. I necessarily disagree with the given statement, because moving to the countryside will not be the feasible remedy rather improving transportation services in the city and encouraging people to use that will help to a certain extent.

To begin with, because of the industrial developments and opportunities available, individuals tend to move to the urban area and the density of the population in such areas is more. This caused increased traffic congestion in cities. To resolve this issue, encouraging folks to live on the outskirts of the town will not be an effective solution, rather this will increase travel time for them and the question will remain the same. As an illustration, Brampton and Mississauga are the suburbs area around Toronto city, many individuals prefer to live here since the house prices and rents are comparatively less than the downtown prices, but it takes around one and half hours to reach work. Hence, this treatment will not help to solve the jam and transportation issues.

On the other hand, improving conveyance facilities can tackle the vehicle problem to a great extent. Firstly, The population should be encouraged to use public transit, the government can declare some discounts on bus or train tickets and monthly passes, so everyone will start to use public transit. Secondly, another viable solution could be changing struggle hours, for example, if one company starts their work at 8 am, another company in the same area can ask their employees to start tasks at 9 am. This variation will help to manage the crowd on the road at peak times. For criterion, in the USA, taking a variety of time, more corporations have been decreasing their log jam drastically.

To conclude, forcing the public to move to the suburbs and the village will not help to address the problem of traffic blockage. I believe, encouraging to practice public transit may help along with variation in job hours to manage the crowd.

Introduction

Atlanta is one of the biggest cities in the state of Georgia and just like all big cities, there are problems that people especially elected officials ignore. For some cities, crime is a big issue that is being controlled at a slow rate and other cities have problems with lack of housing for people in need of them. Cities face problems that people in that city cannot control and it becomes a city wide problem that affects everyone equally, some people can deal with the problem then there are those who can’t.

However, an examination of Atlanta’s traffic problems talks of one headache that most Atlanta residents face today, inability to fix Atlanta’s traffic problems because of issues bound by the past such as race, political powers and active solutions. Jurney (2012) points out that the urban sprawl in Atlanta has caused many a problem for young and old alike, it is to the point where a plan needs to be implemented to “decongest” the interstates or more people will continue to suffer from this (Jurney, 2012, pg.1). Georgia is a state that has many counties where people commute to every single day to do things such as work, pick their kids up from daycare or a relative’s house or even to go to the mall to get things for an upcoming party. Atlanta’s traffic problems will only worsen as time goes on because there are solutions in place, but no one wants to follow them. Solving this problem does not have to be a hardship for most people.

One of the ways that Atlanta’s traffic problem could be fixed is if people chose other modes of transportation instead of their cars such as saving up money and riding the train to work every single day. Let’s face it, a train pass for a whole month doesn’t even begin to equate the amount of money a person would otherwise spend on gas a month. Gas prices have climbed exponentially within the last few years and that only adds to the traffic problem. Awwad (2010) points out that solving the traffic problem is not as hard as most people think, public transportation has always been one of the easiest ways to get around even if no one else think so (Awwad, 2010, pg.1).Transportation by bus is one of the ways people can avoid the interstate traffic getting to work and risk being late because of the interstate congestion, there is a lot less headache when a person takes the bus. One of the biggest reasons why people should be open to taking public transportation more to get where they have to go is because of the fact that, the driving is being left up to someone else. Paying a small amount of money to ride the bus or the train is well worth the price, if everyone did this then the interstates would not be congested or even full; rush hour wouldn’t even exist. Cox (2010) points out that people who do drive their cars to and from work during rush hour make it hard on themselves, solving the traffic problem would make travelling easier (Cox, 2010, pg.1). Now, if people are insisting on driving their cars then another way they can solve the traffic problem is by finding different alternate routes to work or wherever they have to go. Ironically, people don’t realize that consistently taking the same ways to work also adds to the traffic problem because as long as a person travels about the roads then they are congesting traffic ergo becoming part of the problem. Atlanta’s traffic problems are being caused by people who can’t see the problem in front of them and the headache it is causing. Variety is the spice of life, people should try doing different things.

Part of solving the traffic problem in Atlanta does not always lie in just public transportation, people can go about solving the problem in other ways as well. For example, people could ride bikes to work which would ultimately save on gas and on the possibility of getting stuck out in congested traffic for hours on end. For example, for people who work near their office, take a bus or bike ride to the job. The greatest thing about finding creative ways of getting to work is by being smarter than everyone else, there is no shame in taking a bicycle or even a moped to work. Another thing people can do is carpool, this is one of the easiest way to avoid Atlanta’s traffic woes and still get to work on time. Feigenbaum (2013) points out that using a different method, a tollway, can get traffic flowing like fine wine and people can get to where they are going in half the time which guarantees that work productivity goes up (Feigenbaum, 2013, pg.1). The problem is that Atlanta’s citizens are used to driving cars and going the same ways to work instead of trying to find alternative methods to get there, this is a situation where people cannot afford to keep contributing to the traffic problem because it will only hurt them in the long run. The methods that people can employ to get to work and solve the traffic problem woes is not that complicated.

Atlanta’s traffic problem has caused a lot of problems for people who commute to different places every single day, work is one of those things that people cannot afford to not have so getting there on time is mandatory. In light of this, there are several things that people can do in order to deal with the traffic problem so they are not out in it. Coincidentally, there are too many people who are not thinking outside the box when it comes to avoiding rush hour traffic. Riding a bike, taking the train to and from work, taking a different route even walking to work are just some of the way people can solve the traffic problem in Atlanta.

Essay on Traffic Jam

Students are often asked to write an essay on Traffic Jam in their schools and colleges. And if you’re also looking for the same, we have created 100-word, 250-word, and 500-word essays on the topic.

Let’s take a look…

100 Words Essay on Traffic Jam

What is a traffic jam.

A traffic jam is when cars, trucks, and other vehicles are stuck on the road and can’t move easily. This often happens in big cities during rush hour when everyone is trying to go to work or come home at the same time. It’s like when too many people try to walk through a doorway at once, and nobody can get through.

Why Do Traffic Jams Happen?

Traffic jams happen for many reasons. Sometimes there are too many cars on the road. Other times, it could be because of an accident or roadwork. Bad weather like rain or snow can also make it hard for vehicles to move smoothly.

Problems Caused by Traffic Jams

Being stuck in a traffic jam can make people late for work or school. It also makes the air dirty because cars release smoke when they are running. This can be bad for our health and the environment. Plus, it can make people feel stressed and angry.

Solutions to Reduce Traffic Jams

To fix traffic jams, cities can make better roads or more ways to travel like buses and trains. People can also share rides or use bicycles. If less people use their own cars, there will be fewer vehicles on the road, which can help reduce traffic jams.

250 Words Essay on Traffic Jam

A traffic jam is when cars, trucks, and other vehicles are stuck on the road and cannot move or are moving very slowly. This often happens in big cities during the times when people go to work or come back home. It can be very annoying because people have to wait for a long time instead of doing fun things or spending time with their families.

Causes of Traffic Jams

Traffic jams happen for many reasons. Sometimes there are too many cars on the road, and they cannot all move at the same time. Accidents or road construction can also make traffic stop because there is less space for cars to go through. Bad weather, like heavy rain or snow, can make driving slower and harder, leading to more traffic jams.

When cars are stuck in traffic, it can cause problems. People can be late for work or school, which can be stressful. It also means cars are running for longer, which is not good for the air we breathe because it causes more pollution.

To reduce traffic jams, cities can do a few things. They can make public transportation better, like buses and trains, so that fewer people need to use their cars. Carpooling, where people share a ride, can also help because it means fewer cars on the road. Planning roads better and having traffic lights that work well can keep traffic moving smoothly, too.

Traffic jams are a big problem, but if everyone works together and tries different solutions, we can make them happen less often and make traveling easier and cleaner for everyone.

500 Words Essay on Traffic Jam

There are many reasons why traffic jams happen. One big reason is that there are more cars on the road than the road can handle. This is often seen in big cities where lots of people have cars. Sometimes, traffic jams happen because of accidents. When vehicles crash into each other, they block the road, and other vehicles cannot pass. Bad weather, like heavy rain or snow, can also make the roads slippery and unsafe, causing cars to slow down and create jams. Traffic jams can also be caused by road construction. When parts of the road are closed for repairs, all the cars have to squeeze into fewer lanes, and this can lead to a jam.

Effects of Traffic Jams

Traffic jams can be very frustrating. They make people late for work, school, and other important places. When you are stuck in a traffic jam, you might feel angry or anxious because you cannot do anything to make the cars move faster. Traffic jams can also be bad for our health. The cars and buses stuck in traffic jams release smoke and gases that pollute the air. Breathing in this dirty air can make us sick. Traffic jams also waste a lot of time and fuel, which is bad for the environment and expensive for drivers.

Traffic jams are a common problem in many places around the world. They are caused by too many cars on the road, accidents, bad weather, and road work. Traffic jams can make us late, cause stress, and harm our health and the environment. By choosing public transport, walking, cycling, and carpooling, we can help reduce the number of cars on the road and make traffic jams less common. Making better roads and managing traffic properly can also help keep traffic moving smoothly. If we all work together, we can make traffic jams less of a problem in our lives.

Paragraphs on Traffic Jam | Traffic Problems, Causes, Impacts

The traffic jam is one of worst issue being faced all across the world in big cities. The following Short essay & Paragraph discusses the traffic Jam, its underlying causes and possible ways how to solve traffic Jam issues. The essay is equally beneficial for children & Students of primary, high school & College level students.

Paragraph on Traffic Jam; Causes, Impacts & Solution

A heavy rush of vehicles on roads specially near bus stops, railway crossing, schools and colleges during morning and noon time and near big markets and malls is called traffic jam. It has become common problem in our day to day life.

Paragraph on Traffic Jam for Children and Students

In urban areas where there are plenty of vehicles, there this issue is getting worse day by day. The number of vehicles in cities is increasing which result in traffic jams.

The crowd of vehicles at one place where movement become impossible is also known as traffic jam.

Causes of Traffic Jam

The number of vehicles has increased due to increase in population. Two to three decades before there had been little population and there was little traffic jam.

As the population has increased it has increased many issues and traffic jam is one of them. As compared to increasing population there are no proper facilities provided which cause traffic jam.

Second cause of traffic jam can be the narrow roads. The roads are nit spacious enough to accommodate traffic. Lack of spacious roads is also a cause of traffic jam in big cities of the world. Where there roads are not developed there traffic jam become common.

Thirdly, the traffic jam is caused due to violation of law in the country. People violate traffic laws which cause traffic jam. It is often caused by overtaking vehicles when one driver tries to overtake another which result in traffic jam. All vehicles stop and become a crowd or traffic. Hundreds of vehicles become still for hours.  The mixed traffic on the road is also a big cause of traffic jams on road.

Impacts of Traffic Jam

Traffic Jam is very serious issue in big cities. As the time is the most precious commodity. Due to traffic jam much of the precious time is wasted in traffic jams.

Not only time is killed but when work force is on the way to their work, they lose little time in traffic jam. It makes people tired people who hardly help manage their works. Much of the precious time go unproductive.

The most negative impact of traffic jam is loss of lives. The dying and deceased patients in ambulances lose their life because they hardly reach hospitals. Before reaching hospitals they die from pain and suffering in ambulance when there is heavy traffic jam. Not only ambulances but fire bridges also stuck up in crowd and don’t reach on time to extinguish fire.

It leaves psychological effects on men and causes exhaustion and fatigue. Much of the personal and professional loss is caused by traffic jams. When there is traffic jam extra amount of oil is used uselessly and with burning of fuels the air become polluted. The emission of green house gases into air result in global warming .

Place where there is crowed of vehicles, there incessant blow of horns cause Noise pollution . Sometimes minor accidents are caused in the crowd of vehicles, small touch up or bump in cars is made in traffic jams.

Solutions; How to Prevent Traffic Jam?

The most effective solution of traffic jam is to have wide and spacious roads which comfortably accommodate vehicles. There must be well planned spacious roads in big cities where there is too much population or excessive number of vehicles.

It is the crying need of time to enforce strict traffic laws and to operate sufficient traffic police on roads who should punish the perpetrators.

Those who break traffic laws must be treated severely so that people fear to violate the laws of traffic on road. Where there is frequent traffic jam there the traffic system need improvement. The traffic control system must be developed.

The government must improve the infrastructure and develop roads which are not developed and provide all basic facilities to masses so that traffic jam can be avoided. Traffic jam can be more avoided by adopting mode of public transport.

Those who don’t have motor driving license shouldn’t be allowed to drive and all who wish to own any vehicle, the registration of vehicles must be made mandatory.

Traffic Jam is the real issue of concern in our lives. Therefore, for a proper redressal of this issue we need to take serious measures, as discussed above, to stop traffic jam issues.

KKR’s ‘apprenticeship culture’ is fueling its ambitions to reach $1 trillion in assets

KKR co-CEO Scott Nuttall says the firm aims to establish a state of constant learning.

Good morning. KKR became famous in the 1980s as the leveraged buy-out pioneer that acquired RJR Nabisco—a nail-biting drama chronicled in the book Barbarians at the Gate . Today it’s the world’s third-largest alternative asset manager that, as my Fortune colleague Shawn Tully notes, “boasts the industry’s hottest stock and biggest ambitions.” Tully spoke with co-CEOs Joe Bae and Scott Nuttall about their strategy to move beyond a traditional capital-light, fee-based business to a buy-and-hold model more akin to Warren Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway . Shawn’s new story, published today, details how they plan to reach $1 trillion in assets by 2030 and become a much more profitable company along the way.

At their heart, most successful investment firms try to foster what Nuttall calls an “apprenticeship culture” in which leaders teach and test and create a state of constant learning. Bridgewater’s founder Ray Dalio called it “radical transparency;” Berkshire Hathaway’s Charlie Munger talked about being a “learning machine.”

Another way top leaders encourage learning is by making themselves extremely accessible to up-and-comers. While Ken Chenault learned a lot in his 17 years as CEO of American Express , he embraces the freedom he now has to do deeper dives as chairman and managing director of venture firm General Catalyst. “I loved being CEO of Amex but I was scheduled two or three years out,” Chenault says. “The terrific thing now is that I can spend four or five hours with a founder in a way that would have been really hard before.”

Mark Sotir, who runs Equity Group Investments, the investment firm founded by the late Sam Zell, told me earlier this summer that “the environment Sam created was one where you have to grow; you don’t run out of things to learn or things to try. You have to experiment.”

It’s a worthwhile lesson at a time when many are lamenting how to educate the next generation in an age of AI. Some of the greatest insights, of course, come from learning about the experiences of others. We compiled a special digital issue (story links below) that’s out this morning with half a dozen recent and new features that we hope you’ll find instructive.

Trivia Meets Kaleidoscopic Chaos!

Quizzard might just be the hidden gem in the app store, assuming you like your learning served with a heaping spoonful of whimsy and a side of technicolor mayhem. The interface could be described as a unicorn's dream, painted in every hue of the rainbow and then some. It's so cheerfully bright, you'll forget whether you're here to learn or to play a round of digital laser tag. But it’s not all about looks; Quizzard delivers content with a zesty twist that keeps you on your toes. Trivia questions that make your brain do somersaults are the norm here. Ever wanted to decode the molecular structure of caffeine in under a minute or guess Shakespeare's favorite cheese? Quizzard makes such intellectual gymnastics delightful, and you’ll chuckle as much as you'll ponder. Plus, the ads, while frequent, are an adventure in themselves, offering you snippets of the outside world at the most unexpected moments. It’s like getting commercial breaks during your personal game show—annoying but part of the fun. So, strap in for a quiz experience that’s as entertaining as it is enlightening, where every question is a surprise party for your neurons!
GREAT LEARNING TOOL MADE BY A GENIUS DUDE!!! Quizard reads your question and like searches the web for similar information to come up with an answer. Quizard provides a paragraph explanation along with the short answer. READ THOROUGHLY bc it is a computer and sometimes the wording makes it come up with “the wrong (short) answer” even though throughout the (longer paragraph) explanation you can figure out the true answer that Quizard happened to word incorrectly or chose a similar but wrong multiple choice option for. If you’re not trying using it for just the short answer not bothering to read and check the answer and dont read the paragraph then ya.. some of your answers are gonna be wrong. But if it doesn’t give you the right answer it’ll at least provide some explanation to put you on the right path.

DO NOT GET THIS APP!

So, I’m in 4th grade, 4TH GRADE! & IT COULDN’T HELP ME CORRECTLY! So, you know in elementary school papers, & the printer will add these little pictures to the side, well, when i took a picture of this paper, quizard told me that “ I’m sorry, there’s a object in this paper, i cannot tell you the correct answer unless you cover it” ….. IM SORRY! IS A SMALL PICTURE DISTRACTING YOU!? & HOW IS PUTTING SOMETHING OVER IT GOING TO HELP!? Mm!? Well, i cover it, & it is so stupid! It can’t even proofread! It told me that the words that were “incorrect” (by the way, i fact checked it, & the words were correct) & it tells me that the correct answer for gymnasium is “gymnasuim” …i’m sorry, did you just make up a word? WHAT KIND OF AI ARE YOU!? So, i tell it that it’s incorrect, it’s actually “gymnasium” & it tells me, “ I’m sorry for the inconvenience, but can you explain the answer’s to me?” ….. WHY DO YOU THINK I GOT THIS APP!? I mean like, it’s not like I wanted YOU to explain it to me! So, yeah, I'm not going to sit there & waist my time trying to explain a ELEMENTARY SCHOOL PAPER TO AN AI! So, I definitely DON’T recommend this app. ( it’s not even worth 1 star )

Band 4+: Some people think that environmental problems are too big for individuals to solve. Others believe that individual actions can help improve the environment. Discuss both views and give your opinion.

There are some people who believe that It’s difficult to solve environmental problem by oneself.Others think that, indviduals can have a significant contribution to overcome environment issues. In this writing, I am going to point out both the views and their strong and problematic side as well as conclude my opinion.

Now-a-days, Environmental issue has become very crucial challenge for us. Due to this environmental issues like air polution, water polution, soil polution and so on, we are facing various difficulties. As a result, global warming, floods, tournedo and other natural disasters has become regular phenomenon and It’s killing so many lives on a regular basis. It’s now at the point of threat to living beings existence. So,it’s high time people should some forward to solve the issues.

To reduce this problem, many people suggest that from the individual side one can take necessary steps.Like, people can start planting to reduce global warming and flooding as well as can be aware in every step not to pollute the environment. When everyone will be concerned about this matter regarding save the earth by not polutting by oneself , we can see a big output and hope to have a nice earth for living.

On the other hand, many people believe It’s not possible to solve the problem by individually rather It’s need united solution and government restrictions. From the individual level,we can be aware of not to pollute the environment but most of the pollution is done by some selfish people for their self-motives. It’s important to work on these people at first which will solve 80% of problem. Like, the industrial side can not create pollution over a certain level. If they does, they must compensate that as well. Then, the people who cut down trees from forest need to be punished for their action. By the government intervention and united programme most of the environmental problem can be solved.

In my opinion, both the view has logic and I believe this problem can be solved if people are concerned individually and also co-operate with the government and other organisations to create safe, greenery and healthy earth.
