About NOU e -Gyan Portal

Nalanda Open University welcomes all our students, faculties & study centres to the very new & innovative online study portal NOU e-Gyan . The portal is a unique initiative by Hon'ble Vice-Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) K C Sinha , which aims at providing online study material to the students of NOU. The portal is accessible from any hook and corner of the world if the system allows the permission to its users. It is also fully secured and accessible 24 x 7 to its authorised users. It will resolve the academic issues such as E-content Distribution, Delivery, Tracking, Assessment, Progress Monitoring & Controlling of all stakeholders of the system i.e. students, teachers, study centre administrators as well as Nalanda Open University Admins when they are at a distance.

Users of the Portal

The university admin can login to monitor the portal, provide access to authorised stake holders & upload study material.

The study centres authorised personnel can login to track students progress, enroll students, schedule assignments & generate reports.

The university enrolled students can login to view the notification by university, access the e-contents, give assignments & track thier progress report.

New NOU Student Registration

Instructions for filling up the on line application form for new candidate download instruction.

• Online registration details are available on the University website www.nalandaopenuniversity.com & www.nou.ac.in
• Candidates seeking online admission to various courses of Nalanda Open University are required to first register online.
• Kindly download the instructions for ready reference and follow the guidelines during online filling of the application form.
• On the landing Page (the webpage which opens after you click on the Admission link) please click on “New Admission” button.
• Download the Instructions by Clicking here .
• For New Applicant click on the blue button indicating “New Applicant? Create a New Account”.
• All information in the “New Candidate – Registration” IS COMPULSORY and will have to be filled up.
• Password should be minimum 6 character and maximum 13 characters i.e. it should be between 6 and 13 characters
• There should be at least one UPPER CASE
• There should be at least one LOWER CASE
• There should be at least one NUMBER
• There should be at least on SPECIAL CHARACTER (!;@;#;$:%)
• Example of Password – “Shukla@2020”
• User Name. – Which will be also the Application Number
• Password and
• The candidate will also be taken to OTP Page where the Candidate will have to enter the OTP.
• After entering OTP the candidate will be taken to the main Application Form.
• Please remember your APPLICATION NUMBER & PASSWORD as those will be required for login to your Applicant Portal. If forgotten then can be obtained from the email and SMS received by the candidate.
• All ( * ) marked field on the main application form are compulsory. The Compulsory Information will have to be filled before Final Submission.
• Candidate can save the form in draft mode and can login again for completing and submitting it.
• For any submission of the form filling up of Capta is a must.
• Applicant shall choose the Course in which she/he wishes to apply based on the eligibility. The applicant is advised to check the eligibility of the Courses before making a choice.
• Candidate can take admission in only one course. There is no provision for applying in multiple courses.
• Candidate’s Passport size photograph – Size Max. 100 Kb
• Candidate’s Signature (In English) - Size Max. 50 Kb
• Candidate’s Signature (In Hindi) - Size Max. 50 Kb
• Copy of Mark Sheets - Size Max 100 Kb
• Passport size photograph of the applicant.
• Scanned signature of the applicant – English & Hindi
• Clear copy of qualifying examination (Marksheet scanned from Original is to be uploaded.) (Clearly scan your original Marksheet for uploading. Scan of xerox / photocopy of Marksheet will not be accepted).
• Please note that it is not compulsory to fill up the entire Application at one go, candidate can preserve already filled up information by saving the form in the draft mode and later on can complete and submit it.
• Application can be saved in the draft mode by clicking on “Save As Draft” button, doing so will allow the information already entered to be saved.
• Before submitting, candidate can preview the filled up application by Clicking on “Preview” button.
• User / Candidate can change or edit information in the Application as long as the Application is not submitted. Once the application is submitted candidate cannot change or edit or modify the information. For any correction in the application form the candidate will have to visit Nalanda Open University, Patna. Therefore candidates are advised to check the form carefully before final submission.
• After final submission of Application form the Candidate will be taken to Payment page. Candidates are required to pay the requisite fee online through this portal only. SBI Collect or Demand Draft will not be accepted in Online form submission.
• Only Paid Applications will be accepted for further processing.
• All payments will be online payment through Admission portal. Amount cannot be altered.
• Payment is not refundable.
• Candidates will be provisionally registered for admission, subject to the eligibility criteria and verification of passing certificate/mark sheet.
• University will inform you regarding study learning material & prospectus through sms or Email.
• Candidate shall take the print out of the admission form and keep it with them for future reference.
• The applicant will be solely responsible for providing information in the application form. In case of any discrepancy found during verification of the documents the application may be cancelled by the University any time.

Nalanda University is an international institution of higher education located at Rajgir in Bihar, a few kilometres south of the historic Nalanda Mahavihara of ancient India. The University draws its international character from the strong historical legacy of its illustrious predecessor that lay at the core of pan-Asian networks of connectivity and learning. Nalanda University, in the footsteps of ancient Nalanda, facilitates precisely this “community of learning”, whose thought and practices symbolized the “spirituality that unites all”(Act). Hence the University’s stated goal is to be “an international institution for the pursuit of intellectual, philosophical, historical and spiritual studies”(Act) committed to excellence so as to fulfil its internationally conferred mandate of promoting peace and harmony. This becomes particularly significant in the 21 st century world context, which reaffirms the need for humanity to learn and grow together.

Nalanda University’s international character is reflected in the following areas:

• Partnerships: Hallmark of sui generis Nalanda is its Asian collaborative support reinforcing the spirit and global character of the historical seat of learning. Sixteen countries endorsed the Government of India’s proposal to re-establish the ancient Nalanda University at the East Asia Summit in January 2007. As of 2019, eighteen member countries have signed bilateral/multilateral agreements regarding the establishment of Nalanda University.
• Academic Focus: On building key international partnerships to support and promote excellence in education and research collaborations
• Students: Nalanda University is one the diverse and vibrant campuses, with almost 50% of its students coming from various countries of the world.
• Resources: Building new resources geared towards engaging the international community. E.g., Common Archival Resource Centre, BIMSTEC-Centre for Bay of Bengal Studies, and ASEAN-India Network of Institutions being established at Nalanda are not only research platforms but also sites enabling a global tapestry of value systems, peaceful connectivity and innovative research through the vast domain of India-Asian wisdom and knowledge-space.
