What's your experience with getting speech therapy for your child?

My daughter is almost 3. She has a decent vocabulary and can identify things / repeat words ok. But as far as putting together sentences, she only knows a few short phrases.

I'm thinking about getting her speech therapy but I'm afraid it'll be like when she had food therapy when she was 1 (was very expensive with barely any benefit). If you got your child speech therapy, can you share your experience like how you found it, if it was expensive, how often it was, when you saw speech improvement (if any), etc.? Anything would be very helpful!
