Graduation Gowns & Academic Dress

Bachelor graduation gowns.

If you are looking for affordability, see our polyester graduation gown, our most popular type of academic gown. We also manufacture Australian made gowns in superfine wool or wool poly blend fabric. All our graduation gowns come with a complimentary robe bag.

Master Graduation Gowns

A masters gown is worn by masters degree graduates. This type of graduation gown features full-length sleeves, with an opening in the sleeve through which you put your arms. A masters graduation gown will, therefore, appear more lengthy, draped and distinguishable from the bell-shaped sleeved bachelor graduation gown.

Graduation Gown Sets by University

Choose your graduation gown set by University. All sets include a free gown bag and free standard shipping. All garments are delivered pressed and ready to wear. You can choose to upgrade your graduation gown set with our certified Australian made wool blend or superfine wool options.

PhD & Doctorate Graduation Gowns

A PhD gown is worn by PhD award recipients. In Australia, the most common PhD gowns are referred to as either the Oxford style PhD gown, or the Cambridge style PhD gown, however many universities prescribe other designs for PhD award graduates. PhD gowns are also worn with a PhD hood and PhD bonnet or mortar board.

Academic Colours - Graduation Hoods & Stoles

The coloured hood, stole or sash you wear at your graduation ceremony represents both your university and the type of award you have achieved. It signifies your level of study, whether it be a bachelor degree, a master degree, diploma or certificate. The graduation colour usually denotes your area of study or faculty. Therefore there are many different styles and colours across Australian Universities.

Graduation Mortar Boards & Bonnets

Mortar boards, also called trenchers, graduation hats, or graduation caps, have a sculpted crown which goes over the head, topped by a square shaped board and tassel attached to the top of the cap. Graduation bonnets, also called Tudor bonnets or PhD hats, are generally made using velvet and lined with satin. They feature a broad rim surrounding the soft body of the crown. A coloured cord with two tassel ends is attached to the rim of the crown.

University Chancellor Gowns

A Chancellor robe is a formal gown worn by the university Chancellor, Vice-Chancellor, Pro and/or Deputy Chancellors. Chancellor robes may also be worn by managing directors and other heads of an institution. Each university will have academic gown specifications unique to the institution regarding Chancellor Regalia.

Churchill Gowns

PhD & Doctoral Graduation Gown (Purchase)

Our black University PhD gown is a full-length robe that features long crescent sleeves with horizontal arm slits and red facings. The doctoral gown has a tightly pleated yoke   and is suitable for students and academics at Australian universities .

We are proud that our PhD gowns are made from a recycled polyester / viscose blend that prevents the equivalent of 28 plastic bottles from ending up in landfill.

The 310GSM matte black fabric has a beautifully soft hand feel and boasts superior crease and stain resistance compared to materials such as wool or cotton.  For more information on how to choose your correct PhD gown size, please visit our  sizing guide.
