In Pokemon Legends: Arceus , players will have almost 100 Requests to complete. These are optional side quests that typically involve finding and catching a Pokemon for one of Jubilife's NPCs (but there are also quests given by players outside the village). One of the early Requests that players will get is called To Bloom or Not to Bloom (#17) and is given by Kichi of the Agriculture Corps. He wants players to complete the Pokedex entry for Cherrim , a Grass-type Pokemon that is very hard to find in Pokemon Legends: Arceus .

There are several key locations in Pokemon Legends: Arceus where players can potentially find Cherrim:

  • Obsidian Fieldlands: Heartwood
  • Crimson Mirelands: Gapejaw Bog
  • Coronet Highlands: Lonely Spring , Fabled Spring , Primeval Grotto

What makes Cherrim such a hard Pokemon to find in Pokemon Legends: Arceus is that it can only be found in trees that are shaking . Players will not encounter Cherrim by simply walking around.

Players still in the early Missions of Pokemon Legends: Arceus will only have access to The Heartwood area in Obsidian Fieldlands , near the Grandtree Arena, where players fought against Kleavor to calm it down. Cherrim can be found all over the Heartwood, so players should explore any of the areas circled in red in the image down below . If players go too far south, they'll end up in the Grandtree Arena area, so make sure to stay in the vicinity of The Heartwood.

While exploring The Heartwood for Cherrim, their best bet is to get on their Ride Pokemon and run around until they see a shaking tree . Players can throw a Pokemon at the tree, and a wild Pokemon will fall out of it . Again, Cherrim is especially hard to encounter , so expect for there to be a lot of Combee's dropping out of trees most of the time. Combee is a Pokemon inspired by a real-life bee , and it can evolve to Vespiquen at level 21 (but only if the Combee is Female).

Eventually, a Cherrim will appear. If there are no more shaking trees in the area, players should head back to a camp and then return to Jubilife Village and come back to The Heartwood. The shaking trees will essentially "respawn," and players can keep looking for a Cherrim.

There is another option for the players out there having the worst luck in finding a wild Cherrim. Players can try to look for a Cherubi and then raise it to Level 25 to evolve it into Cherrim . Once players have a Cherrim, they can start working on the Research Tasks to finally complete the Request for Kichi at the Jubilife Village farm. Cherubi can be found in the exact locations as Cherrim:

Players who want to quickly complete the Research Tasks for Cherrim's Pokedex entry can use the move Petal Dance and use Agile-style moves . Cherrim learns Petal Dance at level 57.

Request 17 Reward

After the entry for Cherrim is finished, go back to Kichi, and he will give players five Vivichoke , a crafting material used for healing items in Pokemon Legends: Arceus .

Pokemon Legends: Arceus is now available for the Nintendo Switch.

Pokémon Legends Arceus guide: How to find Cherrim

Here’s how to complete the “To Bloom or Not to Bloom” request

by Ryan Gilliam

Cherrim in Pokémon Legends: Arceus

A key part of Pokémon Legends: Arceus is finding specific Pokémon to give to people or to complete their Pokédex entry. An early request in the game is #17, “To Bloom or Not to Bloom,” which asks you to complete the Pokédex entry for a Pokémon named Cherrim and show it to Kichi in Jubilife Village .

In this Pokémon Legends: Arceus guide, we’ll show you the easy way (and the hard way) to pick up a Cherrim for this quest.

The easy way: Evolving Cherubi

Cherubi and its evolved form, Cherrim , are obnoxious Pokémon to catch in Legends: Arceus — not because they’re hyper-aggressive or powerful, but because they only come from shaking trees , which are random.

During your adventures in Hisui, you’ll come across some trees that wobble back and forth. If you throw your Pokémon at them, a Pokémon will tumble out and start battling you. Cherrim and Cherubi are two potential opponents when hitting a shaking tree, but they’re a little rare in our experience.

Because Cherrim are especially rare, the easiest way to get one (or multiples, since you’re looking to complete the Pokédex entry) is to catch a Cherubi and evolve it. Cherubi hang out in trees in The Heartwood in the Obsidian Fieldlands , the Gapejaw Bog in the Crimson Mirelands , and three areas in the Coronet Highlands : Lonely Spring , Fabled Spring , and Primeval Grotto .

Despite this being an early quest, you likely won’t find a Cherubi until you’ve made it to the Coronet Highlands . Once you’re there, move around those three locales and attack every tree that shakes. After you find a Cherubi, catch it, level it up to 25 (which should be pretty quick that far into the game), and manually evolve it .

Pokémon Legends Arceus guide: Complete request list

Our Pokémon Legends: Arceus request guide shows you all the requests, how to complete them, and what rewards they give.

The hard way: Catching a Cherrim

pokemon arceus cherrim research tasks

Cherrim can drop from the same kinds of trees in the same locations as Cherubi in Pokémon Legends: Arceus , so you could get lucky and just find one hanging out. Cherubi seem to be far more common though, so don’t waste all your time looking for a Cherrim.

The best way to complete this request for Kichi is to catch as many Cherubi as you can (and Cherrim when you get lucky), evolve them, and use them in battle until you’ve completed Cherrim’s Pokédex.

As long as you stick to the areas on the maps above, you’ll be able to complete this request one way or another.
