TIME-PLACE CHANGES

Say (to somebody)- person not obligatory but if mentioned obligatory 'to'tell somebody - obligatory the person, now it is your turn to practice, say and tell.

'My name is Alice?, she saidShe said (that) HER NAME WAS ALICE.He told me, ' I will go tomorrow'He told me (that) HE WOULD GO THE FOLLOWING DAY.

Reported speech: we repeat the sentences other people say but without saying the same words., a) statements.

' Will you marry me?', she asked him.She asked him IF HE WOULD MARRY HER. S V CHe asked me, ' Do you play tennis?'He asked me IF I PLAYED TENNIS

IMPORTANT: the order of the questions in REPORTED SPEECH is ALWAYS the order of an AFFIRMATIVE SENTENCE, that is IF+ SUBJECT + VERB + COMPLEMENTS

IMPORTANT: the order of the questions in REPORTED SPEECH is ALWAYS the order of an AFFIRMATIVE SENTENCE, that is WH-+ SUBJECT + VERB + COMPLEMENTS

B.2) WH- QUESTIONS -

  • WOULD PLAY -- WOULD PLAY
  • MUST PLAY -- HAD TO PLAY
  • SHOULD PLAY -- SHOULD PLAY
  • CAN PLAY -- COULD PLAY
  • MAY PLAY -- MIGHT PLAY
